Aircraft Call Signs

- Type A

Nationality and registration mark (ex. D-ABC)

Name of aircraft manufacturer, nationality and registration mark (ex. CESSNA D-ABC)

Name of aircraft model, nationality and registration mark (ex. CITATION D-ABC)

Abbreviations for Type A;

Nationality mark and at least last 2 figures of the registration mark (ex. D-BC)

Name of aircraft manufacturer and at least last 2 figures of the registration mark (ex. CESSNA BC)

Name of model and at least last  2 figures of the registration mark (ex. CITATION BC)

- Type B

The designator of the operating agency, followed by the last 4 characters of the registration mark (ex. GermanIA AJAX)

Abbreviations for Type B;

The designator of the operating agency, followed by at least the last 2 figures of the registration mark (ex. GermanIA AX or GermanIA JAX)

- Type C

The designator of the operating agency, followed by the flight identification (ex. GermanIA 379)

Abbreviations for Type C;

No abbreviations for type C!




Suffixes HEAVY and SUPER

- Aircraft in wake turbulence categories HEAVY or SUPER shall add that to the end of his call sign (ex. Speedbird 123 HEAVY)
- Currently, SUPER is only used for the airbus A380

SUPER = MCTOM 560.000kg or more
HEAVY = MCTOM 136.000kg up to (but not including) 560.000kg
MEDIUM = MCTOM between 7.000kg and 136.000kg
LIGHT = MCTOM 7.000kg or less
